Mating Silver-studded Blues (Plebejus argus). Blueish male on the left, brownish female to the right.
Female Silver-studded Blue butterfly (Plebejus argus), Ssp "caernensis". Feeding on her favoured Bird's foot Trefoil. Ramsley Moor, Derbyshire Peak District.
Literally a very old 8 mm camera I bought at the Ky Flea Market………..10 bucks, and it had an unopened roll of Kodachrome 25 film. 2.09 for the film per the price sticker.

East Sussex - went looking for these guys, it was raining initially, then when the sun came out a few started flying. Having never seen one before I wasn't sure if they were SSB's, as the iridescent studs weren't showing, I guess this was because they were always low down and out of the sun, and didn't close their wings till the sun went in. Having checked on the web I'm confident I have I'd them correctly.

shes all done. and i had such a HARD time giving her away. i LOVED this little fella. it measured about 12.5 x 10.5. sooo fun and i know that it will be loved by andrea! its a little different take on geese inspired by the golden goose quilt i saw on a blog.
Ashdown Forest - this shot actually shows some of the Silver "studs" from which it gets its name. Butterflies photographed at this location last year were not showing these.

Taken Slop Bog, Ferndown, Dorset. This small nature reserve has boundaries with the Ferndown bypass and a residential area, however, it is an oasis for the Siver-Studded Blue. I paid an early visit to this site which is almost on my doorstep, as with most butterflies this year they had emerged earlier than usual. A beautifully marked butterfly that can be found on low lying heathland throughout Dorset .
